Among
the hundreds of heroes that made the ultimate sacrifice on September
11, 2001 at the World Trade Center, we would like to honor the following
heroes, because once a Transit Cop, always a Transit Cop. |

|
Chief Charles Mills |
Chief
Charles Mills, 62, retired in 19XX as Chief of Detectives of the NYC
Transit Police. He left to become the Police Commissioner of the Schenectady,
NY Police Department and as the Commissioner of Public Safety for
the city of Troy. His last assignment was with the NYS Taxation and
Finance as the Chief of Revenue Investigations on the 87 floor of
the World Trade Center. Charlie died doing what he loved best, protecting
other people. He lived with his family in Brentwood, NY. and is survived
by his wife Maie, sons Charles, Adam, Alexander, John and Kari. |

SGT. Timothy Roy |
Sergeant
Timothy A. Roy, 36, was appointed to the NYPD on July 8, 1985, and
began his career on patrol in Neighborhood Stabilization Unit 13.
He was promoted to sergeant in March 1991, and assigned to the Traffic
Control Division, Bus Unit, in November 1995. He also worked in the
68, 71 and 73 Precincts. Although Timmy was never officially a Transit
cop, he would have fit in extraordinarily well. When assigned to the
Bus Squad, he quickly became "Transitized". He is survived by his
wife Stacey; children Brittney, Caitlyn and Timothy Jr; mother Ida
Mae; sister Linda; and brothers James, an active Firefighter; Doug
and John both of whom are retired firefighters, Gary, a retired Housing
police officer, and Kenny. His late father Kenneth was a retired FDNY
firefighter. |

P.O. Mark Ellis |
Police
Officer Mark J. Ellis, 26, was appointed to the NYPD on December 8,
1997, and spent his entire career assigned to Transit Bureau, District
4. He and his partner, PO Ramon Suarez, were both killed while responding
to the World Trade Center incident. A graduate of the State University
of New York at Farmingdale, PO Ellis was an avid outdoorsman whose
interests including snowboarding, fishing and bicycle riding. He is
survived by his parents Elaine and Joseph; and sister Tammy. |

P.O. Moira Smith |
Police
Officer Moira A. Smith, 38, was appointed to the Transit Police Department
on July 11, 1988, and was assigned to Transit Districts 2, 4 and 30
before being transferred to the 13 Precinct in March 1996. Prior to
becoming a police officer, she was employed in the travel industry.
While working in Transit District 4, she met her husband, PO James
Smith, who is currently assigned to the Police Academy. Besides being
an avid sports fan, PO Smith and her husband loved to travel. In 1995,
while vacationing in Spain, they ran with the bulls. PO Smith is survived
by her husband; daughter Patricia and sister Mary. |

P.O. Ramon Suarez |
Police
Officer Ramon Suarz, 45, was appointed to the Transit Police Department
on January 20, 1987, and worked in Transit District 4. Transit Borough
Manhattan Task Force, and the Highway District before transferring
back to District 4 in March 2000. He and his partner, PO Mark J. Ellis,
were both killed while responding to the World Trade Center incident.
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Graphic Arts and Design, PO
Suarez was close to earning a bachelor's degree from Pace University.
A physical fitness enthusiast, he had received numerous trophies and
awards for his expertise in karate. PO Suarez is survived by his wife
Carmen, children Jillian, Sophia and Ramon Jr; parents Marina and
Raul; sisters Margarita and Milagros; and brother Raul. |

Firefighter Terrence Farrell |
Firefighter
Terrence Farrell, FDNY Rescue 4, joined the the NYC Transit Police
in the 1980's. He was assigned to District 1 and the Emergency Medical
Rescue Unit. Terry, a highly dedicated and motivated officer & firefighter,
gained some fame from his donation of bone marrow to a young girl
in Nevada. He is remebered by his peers for easy demeanor and always
having a smile on his face. He was also popular in his hometown as
an Assistant Chief with the Dix Hills Fire Department. Terry is survived
by his wife Nora and 2 chlidren. |

Firefighter
Edward Rall |
FF
Edward Rall of FDNY Rescue 2 joined the NYC Transit PD on October
20, 1981. He rolled over to the New York State Police and subsequently
joined the FDNY. He was a Holbrook resident and left behind his wife,
Darlene and 2 sons. |

Firefighter Paul Pansini |
FF
Pansini joined the TPD in 1988 and was assigned to District 34. He
rolled over to the New York City Police Department in 1990 & worked
in the 120 Pct before joining the FDNY in 1991. Paul was assigned
to FDNY Engine 10. |
